Metal push button switches rely on specialized terminal types to establish secure, reliable electrical connections with external circuits, and the selection depends on factors like current load, installation environment, and assembly efficiency. Below are the four most common terminal configurations, each optimized for distinct use cases:

1.Screw Terminals

The most traditional and versatile type, featuring threaded metal posts (often brass or copper-plated) with locking screws. Wires are stripped, inserted into terminal holes, and clamped tight by tightening the screws. They excel in low-to-medium current applications (up to 10A) and are ideal for field repairs or custom wiring, as connections can be adjusted repeatedly. Common in industrial control panels, HVAC systems, and commercial appliances where stability is prioritized over assembly speed.

2.Quick-Connect Terminals (Tab Terminals)

Designed for rapid, tool-free installation, these terminals have flat metal tabs (typically 0.110” or 0.187” wide) that mate with female spade connectors. They eliminate the need for screwdriving, reducing assembly time—critical for high-volume production like automotive dashboards or consumer electronics. While suitable for moderate currents (up to 15A), they are less ideal for vibration-prone environments, as connections may loosen over time.

3. PCB Terminals (Printed Circuit Board Terminals)

Engineered for direct soldering onto PCBs, these terminals have rigid or flexible pins (often tin-plated copper) that insert into board holes. They ensure compact integration, making them a staple in miniaturized devices like medical monitors, smart home controls, and industrial sensors. Current ratings vary (2A–8A) based on pin thickness, and they offer excellent resistance to mechanical stress when properly soldered.
