Push Button and Toggle Switch

Toggle switches have been used for a long time, and they are still one of the most common types of switches today. These switches come in various configurations, including single-pole single-throw (SPST), double-pole single-throw (DPST), and so on.

A single-pole single-throw (SPST) switch consists of two brass or silver terminals on opposite sides of the switch connected to the power source and the load. When the switch is closed, the terminals are connected, and the current flows. When the switch is open, the terminals are disconnected, and no current flows.

Double-pole single-throw (DPST) switches are commonly used to change the direction of an electric motor. They are designed to control two different circuits simultaneously, such as the current flowing through two different loads.
