The 2-pin tact push button is a small but important component of almost all electronic devices. It is a reliable and durable switch that is designed to control the flow of electrical current. With its low power consumption and ability to withstand millions of cycles of use, it makes an excellent choice for use in electronic devices that require a switch that is both reliable and durable.

A 2-pin 15×15 mm momentary tact push button is a type of tactile switch designed for temporary circuit connection. As the name suggests, it features two electrical pins for circuit integration and measures 15 millimeters in both length and width. This switch operates on a "press-to-connect, release-to-disconnect" mechanism: pressing the button closes the circuit, while releasing it returns to the open state. It is widely used in electronics for its compact size, reliability, and ease of integration.

The switch typically consists of five main components:

  • Cover/Button: The top surface pressed by the user.

  • Elastic Metal Dome (Shrapnel): A flexible conductive component that triggers circuit connection when depressed.

  • Base: Houses the internal structure and secures the pins.

  • Electrical Pins: Two metal terminals for soldering or connecting to a circuit board.

  • Housing: Encloses and protects the internal parts.

Applications

Consumer Electronics

  • Mobile Devices: Power buttons, volume controls, and camera shutter triggers in smartphones and tablets.

  • Wearables: Compact interfaces for smartwatches and fitness trackers.

  • Gadgets: Remote controls, gaming controllers, and portable electronics.

Home Appliances

  • Kitchen Appliances: Control panels for microwaves, coffee makers, and blenders.

  • HVAC Systems: Buttons for temperature adjustment and mode switching in air conditioners and heaters.

Industrial and Automotive

  • Industrial Controls: Emergency stop buttons, machine operation switches, and panel interfaces.

  • Automotive: Interior controls for lighting, window regulators, and infotainment systems.

Medical and Healthcare

  • Diagnostic Equipment: Sterilizable switches for medical devices requiring precise, hygienic operation.

  • Wearable Monitors: Buttons for patient monitoring devices and portable health gadgets.

Advantages

  • Compact Design: The 15×15 mm size suits space-constrained projects.

  • Tactile Feedback: Clear resistance and click sensation for user confirmation.

  • Cost-Effective: Mass-producible and widely available at low cost.

  • Reliability: Long mechanical life and stable performance under normal use.
