The 3 - pins SPDT (Single - Pole, Double - Throw) rocker switch is a highly practical and versatile electrical component widely utilized across various industries and applications. Its unique design and functionality make it an essential choice for scenarios where flexible circuit control is required.

Structure and Design

As the name suggests, the 3 - pins SPDT rocker switch features three connection pins, which are the key to its electrical connectivity. The switch body is typically constructed from durable materials, such as high - impact plastic or metal, ensuring protection for the internal components and resistance to wear and tear. On the surface, there is a rocking lever that serves as the user - interaction element, allowing for easy manual operation.

Inside the switch, the internal mechanism consists of a set of electrical contacts and a mechanical linkage system. The three pins are configured in a way that one pin acts as the common (C) terminal, while the other two are designated as the normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) terminals. This arrangement enables the switch to direct electrical current to different circuit paths based on the position of the rocker lever.

The operation of the 3 - pins SPDT rocker switch is based on its ability to switch the common terminal between two different circuit connections. In the default position of the rocker, the common terminal is connected to the normally closed terminal, allowing current to flow through one specific circuit. When the rocker lever is toggled to the other position, the common terminal is disconnected from the normally closed terminal and connected to the normally open terminal instead, redirecting the current to an alternative circuit path.

This dual - circuit switching functionality provides users with the flexibility to control two separate electrical circuits or select between two different power sources, operating modes, or electrical loads using a single switch. It eliminates the need for multiple individual switches, simplifying the circuit design and reducing the overall component count.
